My News!

Due to the nature of hypnotherapy and mindfulness, a lot of what I do remains confidential. However, whenever I can, I like to share what's been going on in 'Rachel's world'. My work in group mindfulness and tutoring lends itself more to sharing than 1:1 hypnotherapy or mindfulness sessions, so many of the posts you'll see here are to do with that. But that doesn't mean that the private 1:1s aren't going on. It's just that I take the confidentiality of my clients very seriously.
Thanks for dropping by!

In January, I took part in my regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training on the subject of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This is a very effective form of therapy where the client is gently guided to accept the thoughts they may be having about a particular situation, and then commit to going forward in whatever way they think might be best. Mindfulness is a huge part of ACT and I guess that's why it really struck a chord with me. Another emphasis is 'values-based living' ie. identifying what is really important to us personally, and utilising that internal compass to help us make appropriate decisions. It was fascinating stuff and I certainly hope to employ the techniques with my own clients.

At the beginning of February, I attended an NCH peer group support meeting where the speaker talked about specific things to be aware of when supporting survivors of abuse, including the effects of an abusive relationship on the survivor's own identity. All extremely interesting and helpful.

And again, it's been lovely to have people get in contact to let me know how things are going in their lives post-therapy :) Thank you. It really does mean such a lot.
