Mindfulness Now

The Mindfulness Now Programme was developed by Nicolas Cooke D Psy. FAPHP MNCH (Acc) MICHT of The UK College of Mindfulness Meditation in Birmingham.
'Mindfulness Now' blends elements from both MBSR and MBCT into one cohesive programme for mental well-being.

MBSR

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction -

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D, is Professor of Medicine Emeritus and creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the
University of Massachusetts Medical School, USA.
He is quoted widely and describes Mindfulness succinctly as "paying attention to the present moment, in a particular way, without judgement.”
Mindfulness, therefore, is simply being more aware of living in the present moment with an open and friendly awareness of what is happening in and around you, without getting carried away by the pressures of everyday life.

MBCT

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy -

Together with colleagues at Oxford University, Professor Mark Williams developed an approach to mindfulness which also incorporates cognitive therapy. This form of mindfulness is recommended by the UK's National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) specifically for the treatment of depression relapse.
