Hypnotherapy is an effective technique to help you overcome many and varied issues. I hope these FAQs will help.

Will I lose consciousness when I'm under hypnosis?
No. Hypnosis is a natural form of relaxation that we experience everyday, for example, when reading a good book or being engrossed in a film. If anything, you may become more aware of what is going on around you, not less.

Can you make me do things I don't want to?
No. You are in complete control the whole time, whilst in hypnosis and afterwards. This is why hypnotherapy may not be so suitable for people who don't want to make changes. For example, if someone really doesn't have the motivation to quit smoking then it is doubtful that hypnotherapy would work for them. I work with the psychological processes involved in making changes. Only you decide if you want to make those changes in the first place.

Will I divulge my inner-most secrets while under hypnosis?
No. You are in complete control the whole of the time. You only share with me what you are willing to share.

Will I be ok to drive after a session of hypnotherapy?
Sometimes you may feel very relaxed after a session of hypnosis. At other times you may feel full of energy. Whatever the outcome, every effort is made to ensure that it is safe for you to drive, cycle, walk - you may just need to have a glass of water or take a few deep breaths of fresh air to get you safely on your way.

Will I fall asleep while under hypnosis?
There's a slight chance, yes. Because hypnosis relies on relaxation, it is sometimes the case that susceptible people may drift in and out of sleep. However, every effort is made to ensure that this does not happen, after all you don't want to be paying me for something you could easily do at home! Even though studies have shown that the subconscious part of our brain is awake all the time, even when we're asleep, it may be helpful that you hear consciously what I am saying!

Will I be able to move when under hypnosis?

Yes. You can do anything you want to. If you're uncomfortable and want to move then that's fine. If you want to open your eyes at any point then that's fine. If you want to take a sip of water that's fine too. However, most people find that they become so relaxed they don't even give these things a thought.
